Technicolor is among those celebrating various Oscar wins: the company worked on six of the nine films nominated for Best Picture, including the Best Picture winner, Argo. But it was for Ang Lee’s Life of Pi and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln that Technicolor’s creative services talent and teams provided the most material support – originating during principal photography, and culminating with the film’s digital intermediate colour-grading and finishing.
“We are honoured to have worked on an incredible range of films singled out at this year’s Oscars ceremony in Hollywood,” said Frédéric Rose, CEO of Technicolor. “Our talent and innovation was very much evidenced by this unique group of films, led by Life of Pi, a stunning achievement by director Ang Lee.”
Technicolor won a special effects award for its MPC brand’s VFX work for Life of Pi. “Technicolor remains, after nearly 100 years, a vital creative force within the motion picture industry, and we applaud MPC and our customers for their towering achievements,” said Rose.
