Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE) has announced Emma Pemberton’s appointment as Vice President, International New Release Marketing. Pemberton will will lead the home entertainment marketing strategy for all Universal’s new release titles, including central acquisitions, as well as overseeing the international rollout of UltraViolet. Universal’s 2012 release slate is one of the biggest in the studio’s history with anticipated Blu-ray/DVD titles Bourne Legacy, TED, American Pie: Reunion and Battleship to release later this year.
Pemberton will report to Melanie Nicholas, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Licensees. “Emma’s tremendous international experience in managing multiple territories and driving marketing strategy and innovation will be invaluable to our team,” said Nicholas. “2012 is a big year for Universal – not only do we have high expectations for our home entertainment slate, but we are also beginning our international UltraViolet rollout following the launch of Safe House in the UK. Emma will be integral to developing world class marketing approaches to successfully launch these titles around the world.”
Pemberton joins UPIE from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment where she most recently served as Vice President International Marketing. In that role, she managed marketing strategy and process for Sony’s new release slate, including tentpole releases Spider-man 3, Da Vinci Code and Casino Royale, among others. She has more than 15 years of experience in the home entertainment industry includes senior marketing positions with Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment, both in UK and Australia, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in Australia, US and UK.
