Swedish packaging concept developer JakeBox, known for its proprietary disc package, used by, among others. the Rolling Stones and Sony Playstation, has now turned its attention to the card format. In collaboration with card supplier SPS (Swiss Post Solutions), it has launched its new concept – the Ejector, suitable for gift cards, loyalty cards, or any other CR80 format card, even USB.
“As gift cards grow more common, the demand for something beyond the simple carrier is growing too,” said Ramona Ebert, SPS sales manager. “So we are very happy and proud to be the first card supplier in Europe to offer this ingenious new format.”
The Ejector concept was first designed late last year, and developed for industrial production and patented during the first half of 2011. It was first shown at the ICMA Show in Miami, a first North American license was sold this summer, and now the concept is being marketed in Europe, first at the Cartes show in Paris (a trade event for digital security and smart technology), November 15-17.
“We realized quite a while ago that our big bright future didn’t really lie in the disc industry,” said JakeBox CEO Jakob Skarin, “But it’s still been keeping us so busy that we haven’t had time to develop any new concepts until just recently.”
